Modern Foreign Languages

All our students have the opportunity to study both French and Spanish from when they start in year 7 and may choose to take a GCSE in Key Stage 4 in French, Spanish or Italian. The language faculty is well equipped with the latest ICT facilities and students get the opportunity to experience language at work by working with interactive language programs, using their creative talents to produce projects and leaflets and to communicate via email and video-conferencing with our partner schools in Europe. Homework is set on a weekly basis and constitutes a mixture of written and learning tasks.

The department consists of four members of staff with a good experience of working with languages in Europe and further afield. Students have the opportunity to join several trips to France, Spain and Italy especially in Key Stage 4.
