I am delighted to be part of such a strong team of staff and students at St Luke's and to play a role to ensure students achieve and develop academically throughout their five years with us. My role involves leading on all aspects of achievement, which includes ensuring all students reach their academic potential no matter what their starting points or their background. This often begins with developing confidence and resilience, and working closely with Mrs Whalley to ensure learning is of the highest quality. My role is to ensure each student has the skills and qualifications they need to succeed at the next stage of their education, but also are well rounded, successful young people.
My particular role is to build on the history of rapid improvement in attainment and achievement which has characterised St Luke's in recent years. This means committing to ensuring students make outstanding progress in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science alongside valuing their uniqueness by providing opportunities to celebrate their knowledge and skills across the range of subjects and skills. I am passionate about the opportunities that the Arts and Sport provide to the development of our young people and ensuring that achievement across subject disciplines is valued holistically.
The team of middle leaders are highly respected at St Luke's and I am looking forward to working alongside them to ensure students experience a broad effective curriculum which results in students making outstanding progress. Currently there is a significant amount of change in education and we will be working hard to ensure that transition is as smooth as possible and that students are always at the heart of any decisions we make about changes to the way students and the college is assessed.
Throughout this change, I will also be ensuring our parents, governors and other stakeholders have accurate information about students academic progress which allows them to support students to the best of their ability. This partnership with a range of adults that influence students on a daily basis is vitally important to their success and our communication with them needs to be exemplary.
St Luke's has always been close to my heart, in the early days when I worked with the school to achieve its Science and Sports College status as well as applauding its successes on a national stage whilst at The Youth Sport Trust. It is often described as an inspirational place, I am looking forward to contributing to that, getting to know the students and the staff and working alongside such a dedicated group of people.
