Course content
Coursework (40%)
Students will complete three written tasks; each one needs to be 500-800 words in length. One piece will be a descriptive or narrative piece, one will be an argumentative or informative piece and the third is in response to a non-fiction text. Each task needs to be written in a different form.
Speaking and Listening (20%)
Students will deliver a presentation on a topic of their choice followed by a discussion with the examiner in which they must answer questions. All presentations must be recorded as an audio file to submit to the examining body. This will be completed just before the final exam in the summer term of year 11.
Exam (40%)
Students will answer three questions on two passages. They will be expected to demonstrate the following skills:
- Summary
- Language analysis
- Reading comprehension
